From Monroe City Hall the route is I-20 west across the Ouachita River to exit 115 (LA-34 S, Stella St), south on LA-34, then Natchitoches St, which runs into Old Natchitoches Rd: about 6 minutes. West Monroe City Hall is 6 minutes away and Glenwood Regional Medical Center 5. Dixie Self Storage on Blazier Estate Rd is 0.6 miles from American Secure Storage, and Morning Meadow Self Storage is on New Natchitoches Rd in the same part of West Monroe.

North West Monroe, on Cypress St. Secure Storage West Monroe is at 3617 Cypress St, 3 minutes from Glenwood Regional Medical Center and 6 from West Monroe City Hall. It has both indoor climate-controlled units and outdoor drive-up units.

How to choose storage in Monroe and West Monroe

Think about heat and humidity. North Louisiana summers are hot and humid, and humidity is what hurts stored things most: mildew on fabric and paper, warping in wood. Tools, yard gear, metal and plastic furniture and household goods packed in plastic tubs do fine in a drive-up unit. Electronics, photos, documents, mattresses and wood or leather furniture kept for years are better in climate control.

Pack against moisture. Use sealed plastic tubs rather than cardboard, keep things off the floor on pallets, leave a little space between furniture and the walls, and cover furniture with cloth rather than plastic so it can breathe.

South West Monroe: American Secure Storage, Dixie or Morning Meadow. North West Monroe: Secure Storage West Monroe. Near ULM: Storage Depot or Tower. Near Pecanland Mall: Storage Rentals of America. South Monroe: MMJ or Iron Storage.

Plan around move-out season. ULM students move out at the end of each semester, and a month-to-month unit covers a summer away without a long lease.

Match the hours to the schedule. Hospital shifts at Glenwood and St. Francis and late-night moves do not keep business hours. Six of the nine facilities in this guide close or do not list hours at night; American Secure Storage, Secure Storage West Monroe and Dixie Self Storage list access 24 hours a day.

Read the extras. When the facilities were checked, Iron Storage required tenant insurance, Storage Rentals of America listed an admin fee and a paid reservation fee, and MMJ Self Storage asked for a photo ID upload and the renter's own lock. American Secure Storage has no activation or admin fee, needs no ID and has a lock available.

Best for 24-hour access

American Secure Storage, Secure Storage West Monroe and Dixie Self Storage list unit access 24 hours, every day. Tower Self Storage posts 6am to 9pm but says 24-hour access is available on request. Of the three, American Secure Storage is the closest to downtown Monroe, about 6 minutes from City Hall, and had a lower 10×10 rate than Dixie in October 2026 ($63 against $79). Best for a drive-up unit

Every unit at American Secure Storage and at MMJ Self Storage is drive-up, and Tower's units are all at ground level. American Secure Storage has 5×10, 10×10 and 10×20 units with 24-hour access and no activation or admin fee. MMJ has a wider range, 5×8 to 10×30, with access from 6am to 8pm.

Best for climate control

On the West Monroe side, Secure Storage West Monroe on Cypress St has indoor climate-controlled units off a lit hallway, reachable 24 hours a day. On the Monroe side, Tower Self Storage on Fulton Dr has climate-controlled and regular units, an onsite manager and an office open seven days. Dixie, Morning Meadow and Storage Rentals of America list some climate-controlled units too.

Best for a national chain

Storage Rentals of America on Harvester Dr, about 5 minutes from Pecanland Mall, is a national chain operating in many states and has some climate-controlled units. Its site lists an admin fee and a paid reservation fee, it does not list its access hours, and its office is at 3701 Arkansas Rd.

Best for an on-site office

Tower's office on Fulton Dr is open seven days, with an onsite manager. MMJ on Winnsboro Rd also keeps its office open seven days. American Secure Storage's office answers by phone and by text daily, 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM Central, and its units can be rented online at any hour.

Best near ULM

Storage Depot on Armand Connector is about 5 minutes from campus, open 6am to 10pm, with phones answered by a call center. Tower is about 7 minutes from campus, with posted access hours of 6am to 9pm.
